My friend was considered a "suspect" in a crime report that her ex-husband filed.  He is a department head at the City of Plainwell. Plainwell, in its efforts to protect one of its own,  engaged in unethical and possibly illegal conduct to cover for Rick Updike and his attorney, Plainwell's City Attorney, Bob Champion.  Please respond to this posting if you have been a victim of Plainwell PD's use of harassment and intimidation to silence victims and critics.  A group of six individuals who have been through similar experiences as my friend have joined together to bring Plainwell's issues to the attention of the Michigan Attorney General's Off...

Gay Marriage
• Posted on 8/12/2007 by tracy-west-olympia    F, 35, OLYMPIA, WA.

I am concerned about the issue of gay marriage as it relates to politics,ie:George Bush, the man who truly did NOT win the election, but bought his way in! You have seen Farenheit 911 an Sicko, Correct? If not, go see them NOW as it spreads new light on the Bush administration and $$$$! I feel the true reason behind the government's issue of banning gay marriage is simply ignorance and is due to not allowing for tax breaks as for heterosexual marriages. Have you noticed that nearly ALL sexual predators are STRAIGHT WHITE MALES??? Think about it. If anything, the government should be worrying about how to catch these motherfucking predators who prey on our children and ruin their innocence forever. More heterosexual couples engage in freaky business and end up in affairs and divorce and so on, than any homosexual couple I know. I do know a lesbian couple who lives near me and one of the lady's was my former boss and is still my good friend. She would never cheat on her "wife" nor is she any different than any other person in a good, strong healthy relationship. Plus, she believes in God and that He does not judge and loves ALL people, so stick that in your Kool-Aid box and suck it-you bible thumping right wingers!!!

Welcome to the 21st Century, America
• Posted on 2/21/2007 by yogateacher1    M, 30, BRENTWOOD, CA.

Gov. Deval Patrick (MA) is the second African-American elected govenor since the 1860's.  Anyone else think thats pathetic on America's part? Why are we still struggling with progressive racial lines? WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY can't America be a little, just a little colorblind? The bigger and better news though is what he's trying to accomplish - he led a very grassroots campaign and it seems as if he is going to continue to be accessible to the public and ignite excitement in MA. Way to show the country how it should be done.

war in iraq - no end in sight
• Posted on 2/19/2007 by yogateacher1    M, 30, BRENTWOOD, CA.

I really don't think there's an end in sight for the Iraq War. Anyone who thinks differently is wishfully thinking. This really could be a disaster worse than Vietnam if we don't get some new direction.

Young Jihadists
• Posted on 1/19/2007 by Anonymous.

It is so incredibly frightening, disappointing and just immeasureably sad that young Iraqi boys feel COMFORTABLE in a war-zone setting. Because they basically grew up with their dads fighting, with guns, etc. they not only feel the pressure but the need to follow in their parents' footsteps - its what they know, its what they want.   African nations have been fighting this issue for years but it still goes on with no end in sight.   Maybe if we spent a little more money on educating foreign nations rather than supplying their government with weapons, there could be some peace. I won't hold my breath.

Republicans against Bush's Iraq Proposal - YIPEE
• Posted on 1/14/2007 by Anonymous.

Republican senators did NOT show their support for Bush's plan to increase troops in Iraq this past week. Even Trent Lott didn't seem over-enthusiastic when talking to reporters. Although I'm a democrat (and a liberal one at that) - I do see where Bush thinks this is going - send a huge influx of troops, make massive progress and then get the hell out. But a) we all know thats not going to happen and b) any idea Bush has I'm pretty much against.   Wow - if Bush loses the support of his party and this becomes a trend over the next 2 years, we'll all have to celebrate. BIG TIME.

Stem Cell Research
• Posted on 1/9/2007 by Anonymous.

bush needs to approve the bill that would provide more funding for stem cell research. its science - not religion. get the fuck over it bush and welcome to 2007.   "Stem cells are the body's master cells, found throughout the tissue and blood. Researchers hope that stem-cell research could lead to treatments for diseases such as juvenile diabetes and cancer and to perhaps replace damaged organs. Embryonic stem cells are one of several types of these cells, and considered potentially the most powerful. They are the most controversial source of the cells, and current federal law greatly restricts the use of taxpayer money to pay for experiments using them. Opponents of embryonic stem cell research, including Bush, say it is unethical to experiment on human embryos, even those never destined to become a baby." - http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16545499/   it makes me so frustrated!! i'm going to do my part.. somehow. we should all be doing something to help this cause. stem-cell research can save lives without endangering anyone else's!!!

RED alert
• Posted on 1/9/2007 by Anonymous.

did you know that less than 1% of cargo coming via overseas gets checked? that scares me - a lot. and the rest of the world is catching on about how fucking stupid our un-trained seaport employees are. word spreads fast. i call for a red alert - 24/7 until something gets done about this. but nothing will. bush promised that we'd be safer after 9/11. we aren't. we just have been lucky... so far.

I can't wait to see what happens in the first 100 hours of our newly elected DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS!!! I feel it. 2007 is going to be a great year. I am hoping for a ton of good legislation to pass. Let's hope the dems don't fuck this up... we may actually win back the White House in '08 if they step up to the plate. FINGERS CROSSED.
